| Clubs & Socs Day |
|
Purpose Clubs & Socs Day takes place twice per year, at the beginning of each Semester. It usually takes place in Week 1. On Clubs & Socs Day, each Club and Society has a stand in the student lounge where you can check out what they are involved in and ask those already involved in the club/ society anything you’d like to know about it. It’s the first real opportunity that you’ll get to get involved in the clubs/ societies activities and is well worth popping in to on the day. Usually there’s some entertainment and refreshments provided on the day also and it’s a great way of meeting people. The purpose of the day is to encourage participation in Clubs, Societies and Student Activities. If a particular club/ society and their activities appeal to you, then you can sign up right there and then. You pay a €2 membership fee and can then go along to their meetings and get involved in their events. You can even become a committee member in Semester One if you wish-no experience required!!!! If you’ve checked out all of the stands and there’s something you were hoping to be involved in that just isn’t catered for in Mary I yet, then don’t worry-new clubs/ societies are always welcome, just come to the Students’ Union and talk to the Clubs & Societies Officers about your ideas and we can help take it from there. You could even try and set up the club/ society yourself, it’s really not as difficult as you may think!!! For more help and information contact Student's Union. Dates Clubs & Socs Day Semester 2: January 27th 2011, Student Lounge, Tara Building
