How Do You Solve A Problem Like…..the one we are in?

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well and I appreciate you taking the time to read a blog fuelled by passion rather than requirement.

Let me start with a problem for you to solve:

Join the SU Crew!

Want to be part of the SU Crew?

Many times in the last year I have heard students say “How do I get involved with the SU?” and I usually take their details and let them know what’s coming up or how they could get involved.

After the great response I received from students who wished to take part in Mental Health Week, it just showed me how this practice desperately needs to be evolved and hopefully this is a way to do it:

Join the SU Crew.

I got this idea from the Vice-President/Welfare Officer Avril Healy in LIT SU. She has a group of students who volunteer to help out at events, campaigns and activities. It makes perfect sense.

So the plan is simple – if you have an interest in getting actively involved in your Students Union then just sign up to the SU Crew at the Students’ Union.

You will then receive an email any time there is something coming up that might be of interest to you. You will be under no obligation to every even open the email or get involved with anything. The aim of the group is provide an opportunity for students to be involved in something that they are interested in while assisting the event/campaign being run by the Students’ Union.

The nature of the suggestions will vary by kind and degree from getting involved with the website, to helping out with an activity or campaign. It can be something behind the scenes or out on the ground but the important thing to remember is, the option is there for you so you can get involved (or not) at any time.

So you might as well sign up!

Check out our video on one of the last events we had for Mental Health Week – I do mean it when I say I could be emailing you about any sort of activity! J
