Hi guys, hope you’re all settled back into the swing of M.I.C and that you’re enjoying college life so far. Fresher’s week was a huge success and thank you to all students who made it such a memorable week.

Lots coming up in the entertainments calendar this Semester, so be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook page and posters around the college. We are really looking forward to a few events that haven’t yet been done at MIC such as The Night at the Dogs, The Mini Comedy Festival and some of the MIC favourites, The Mary I Factor, Oktoberfest and Christmas Daze and for the first time ever we will be holding a major event which we can assure you is not to be missed. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on this which will be advertised throughout the college over the coming few weeks.

Just on a side note, each of our blogs will contain a few places in Limerick you may or may not be aware of, and a little bit about them so for any new students who don’t know Limerick we’ve decided to compile a list of Limerick haunts you may not have seen advertised which may suit alternative musical and cultural taste buds.

(1)    Mickey Martins - Great dj pub, music and chilled out atmosphere.
(2)    Dolans Warehouse and pub -  Limerick’s finest music venue, great food (fish and chips), and trad music nightly
(3)    Costellos – Alternative nightclub, indie music, no Aires and graces, great craic
(4)    The Office Bar – Great for live music and gigs
(5)    Bourkes – Live music weekly, atmospheric and friendly to all ages
(6)    31 Thomas Street – Limerick’s only LGBT bar
(7)    The Bailey – Really nice décor, great rooftop smoking area and club music most nights
(8)    Fennesseys – A Home away from Home
(9)    Smyths Bar – Live music, always busy and will meet lots of new people
(10)    Scotts – A hop, skip and a jump MIC, perfect for an after class catch up with friends
(11)    The Wicked Chicken – Ultra hip venue, great dj scene and relaxed vibe
(12)    Aubars – Chart music, great cocktails, chic environment and crowd
(13)    O Connells Bar – Buy 1 get 1 free on main courses (Meaning go with a friend for a €5 dinner)
(14)    Cobblestone Joes – Great atmosphere, great pints, savage live music, amazing smoking area!
(15)    Nancy Blakes – Great atmosphere, live music, funk dj’s, sawdust on ground, over 23’s
(16)    Charlie Chaplins Pub – Serve really good cocktails, great for pre club meet up
(17)    Flannerys – Great to watch a match in
(18)    Bobby Byrnes – Great for food and drink, local Mary I haunt
(19)    Tom Collins Bar – Best pint of Heineken in Limerick. Old man pub but good vibe
(20)    O’ Dwyers – Local Mary Immaculate pub, mix of ages and good for live music. Piano in bar
